President Trump declared Thursday that U.S. relations with Russia are the worst they have ever been following new congressionally mandated sanctions against Vladimir Putin’s country.
“Our relationship with Russia is at an all-time & very dangerous low. You can thank Congress, the same people that can’t even give us HCare!” Trump tweeted Thursday morning.

Trump signed a bill Wednesday that boosts sanctions against Russia, Iran, and North Korea “for the sake of national unity” despite also saying the bill was “significantly flawed” and included “unconstitutional provisions.”
“I built a truly great company worth many billions of dollars,” Trump said in a separate statement Wednesday. “That is a big part of the reason I was elected. As president, I can make far better deals with foreign countries than Congress.”
Trump on Thursday also pointed to the growing stock market, which he has repeatedly brought up in a week in which the Dow Jones average hit a record high.
“Business is looking better than ever with business enthusiasm at record levels. Stock Market at an all-time high. That doesn’t just happen!” Trump tweeted. “I am continuing to get rid of costly and unnecessary regulations. Much work left to do but effect will be great! Business & jobs will grow.”
