The Washington Nationals said there are still tickets available for tonight’s game that will mark the return of Stephen Strasburg — or, more specifically, Strasburg’s right arm — to the team. The Nats take on the Los Angeles Dodgers at 7:05 p.m. at Nationals Park.
Andrew Feffer, chief operating officer for the Nationals, said he encourages would-be fans to buy their tickets online or get to the ballpark early and hit the ticket office.
Although Strasburg’s return is highly anticipated, the attendance push is a far cry from his debut with the team last year when it sold out days in advance and prices on the secondary ticket market skyrocketed. Still, the team expects to come close to a sellout — a big boost for a Tuesday night game, which are typically some of the least-attended weekday games.
And Strasburg’s influence on the team’s bottom line is a lot more than just ticket sales. Needless to say, they’re happy to get him back.
