Late Monday, former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper told CNN that Putin “knows how to handle an asset and that’s what he’s doing with the president.”
Clapper’s remark was in reference to Putin’s publicly thanking Trump over the weekend after the CIA informed Russia of a looming terrorist attack in St. Petersburg.
McMaster also said he recently asked Putin to decrease its trade with North Korea as a consequence for the country’s continued missile tests.
