Jeb Bush took aim at Hillary Clinton’s legal woes Tuesday at the outset of the year’s final GOP debate, highlighting the months-long FBI investigation into the Democratic front-runner’s private email server.
“Our freedom is under attack. Our economy is under water,” Bush said during his opening remarks at the Las Vegas debate. “Our leading Democrat is under investigation, and America is under the gun to lead the free world and protect our civilized way of life.”
The former Florida governor, once expected to face Clinton in the general election, has struggled to gain traction in the crowded Republican primary field.
Like other GOP hopefuls, Bush has recently ramped up attempts to tie Clinton to the increasingly unpopular policies of the Obama administration.
“Serious times require strong leadership,” Bush said during the debate, taking a swipe at President Obama’s approach to the fight against the Islamic State.
