Mikulski lands millions for prevention

Programs aimed at preventing youth and community violence received a more than $10 million boost in federal aid.

U.S. Sen. Barbara Mikulski recently announced the $10.8 million in crime-fighting money, part of which will support after-school support services for at-risk youths and KidsPeace in Columbia, which provides support services for foster care parents, according to a news release.

In addition, $5.5 million will help programs that target gang activity.
