To mark National Small Business Week, Gov. Robert Ehrlich recognized some of the state?s top entrepreneurs and small-business leaders at a ceremony Wednesday in the Maryland State House.
Ehrlich awarded the Maryland winners of the U.S. Small Business Administration?s 2006 Small Business Week Awards Program.
Small Business Award winners included Mark McGrath and Steven Moore, of Chesapeake Plastics Manufacturing Inc. in Lusby, who won Small Business Person of the Year; Michael Weiner, of Ellicott City?s Network Referral Group, who won Maryland Home-Based Business Champion of the Year; Karl J. Appel, a CPA at the Gardiner Group in Severna Park, who won Maryland Accountant Champion of the Year; Omar Muhammad, of the Small Business Company in Baltimore, who won Maryland Minority Champion of the Year; and Mark Lipschitz, of the Nina Company LLC in Arnold, who was named Maryland Small Business Exporter of the Year.
