Elderly McLean couple finds intruders in home

An elderly McLean couple was awakened by a pair of burglars who broke into their home.

The couple in their 70s discovered two intruders in their home on the 1500 block of Pathfinder Lane shortly before 8 a.m. Wednesday, Fairfax County police said.

The woman heard noises from her upstairs bedroom and went downstairs, where she encountered one of the burglars, police said. The intruder demanded money and struck her.

The burglars then roused the man, who was still in bed. The suspects fled from the home with a purse when one of the victims screamed, police said.

Police don’t believe that the suspects knew the victims. One intruder is a man who is about 6 feet tall; the other is described as a “petite female.” Both were wearing dark clothing.
