Biden accuser says ‘it’s a little late’ for an apology

The woman who is accusing Joe Biden of sexually assaulting her almost three decades ago doesn’t want to hear that he’s sorry.

During her first televised interview, Tara Reade, 56, told former Fox News and NBC News host Megyn Kelly too much time had passed since the presumptive 2020 Democratic presidential nominee allegedly forcibly kissed her and penetrated her with his fingers when she was a Senate aide to him in 1993.

“Do you want an apology?” Kelly asked in a clip released Thursday of their sit-down.

“I think it’s a little late,” Reade replied, ditching cable news networks in favor of the freelancer.

Reade’s claims against Biden looked set to fade away after the two-term vice president and Delaware’s 36-year senator’s supporters, including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, coalesced behind him.

While mounting pressure for him to address Reade’s accusations directly and publicly resulted in a MSNBC-televised denial last week, the secretary of the Senate’s refusal to search for and release a possible complaint she lodged against him at the time had hurt her efforts to corroborate her story.

But Reade’s interview with Kelly, in which she also called for Biden to drop out of the race, coincides with her hiring a lawyer. Douglas Wigdor represented six women who accused movie producer Harvey Weinstein of sexual misconduct and was an advocate of Christine Blasey Ford during Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation hearing.
