Pence shrugs off Biden DNC acceptance speech: Economy and law and order on the ballot

Vice President Mike Pence reminded people what’s at stake after Joe Biden delivered his acceptance speech at the Democratic National Convention.

“Well, you know, Joe Biden said last night, Ainsley, that — what was it? — democracy is on the ballot,” he said Friday morning during an interview on Fox & Friends, the morning after the speech.

“Character is on the ballot. Well, let me be clear,” he added. “The economy is on the ballot. Law and order is on the ballot. And the American people know it. You know, I have been traveling all across this country, supporting law enforcement. Talking about the growth in this economy and this president’s vision for bringing the economy not only all the way back but building an even greater economy than the world’s ever known over the next four years.”

Pence also said that the differences between Trump’s and Biden’s platforms are “astonishing.”

Trump “believes that we don’t have to make a choice between supporting law enforcement and supporting our African American families and our cities and other minority families in our cities,” the vice president said. “We have done both from the beginning of this administration. We’re going to continue to do both. But the Democrats are offering a vision for this country that would crush our economy and promote the kind of policies that will resort in more violence in our streets.”

Biden, during his acceptance speech, criticized the president’s character and pledged to lead the country out of a chapter of “darkness” and into his vision of “light.”

He said at one point, “That’s the job of a president — to represent all of us, not just our base or our party. This is not a partisan moment. This must be an American moment.”
