UPDATED: Diner stabbed to death in Popeyes chicken sandwich dispute

Sources said a person was killed after being stabbed to death at an Oxon Hill Popeyes in Maryland.

The death occurred Monday evening at around 7 p.m. at the 6200 block of Livingston Road and happened after a fight over the chicken sandwich.

Police responding to the scene found the victim in the parking lot outside of the Popeyes, and the man was taken to a nearby hospital where he died.

Police are working to find the perpetrator.

The sandwich made a hyped reappearance Sunday after selling out earlier this year from high demand.

UPDATE: Friends of the victim claimed he was not stabbed over the chicken sandwich but did not give specifics on what started the fight.

UPDATE 2:

Authorities identified the stabbing victim as Kevin Tyrell Davis of Oxon Hill. Police released a photo of a person of interest and are asking the community for help in uncovering his identity. They said they are still trying to figure out how the event escalated from an argument to a homicide in 15 seconds.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
