Stocks opened sharply lower on Friday as U.S. markets digested news of the United Kingdom’s decision to exit the European Union.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 454 points, or 2.5 percent, to 17, 556 in early morning trading.
The NASDAQ Composite was down 140 points, or just about 3 percent, at 4,769.
The S&P 500 Index shed 51 points, or about 2.4 percent, to 2,062.
