CHICAGO (AP) — A federal judge has sentenced a 27-year-old Chicago man to 30 years in prison for forcing four young women into prostitution through a combination of threats and psychological manipulation.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Chicago says Carl Brandon Smith convinced the women he was in love with them. He forced them to work as prostitutes, and threatened to kill them if they ever tried to leave.
