New DNC website invites Dem voters to weigh in on party’s platform

The Democratic National Committee launched a new website Friday that enables voters to weigh in on the party’s platform ahead of its national convention in late July.

“Our goal is to make this year’s platform process the most representative and inclusive in history,” the site reads.

A series of buttons on the homepage allow users to describe what they wish to see in the party’s platform by submitting a written or video testimony, or requesting to participate in a public forum between now and the convention.

Democrats will convene in Philadelphia on July 25 for a four-day convention that could become chaotic if a floor fight ensues between Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders and party leaders, many of which have been accused of rigging the nominating process in Hillary Clinton’s favor.

The new website debuts less than a week after DNC chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz announced that both Sanders and Clinton would be able to appoint some individuals to the party’s 15-member platform committee.

The move was seen as an olive branch of sorts to the Sanders campaign, who’s repeatedly criticized the chairwoman’s handling of the party’s primary.
