In last week’s CNN debate, Hillary Clinton (and the other candidates) were asked:
While most candidates chose one or two enemies, Clinton was the only candidate to quickly provide a laundry list of enemies she was “proud of” making:
The line drew laughs and applause, as well as condemnation from potential opponents, like Ohio’s John Kasich, who called the line “a disagrace” and questioned: “She bragged that she made enemies out of Republicans? Is that where this country is going?”
As many reporters, such as our own Daniel Halper in his book, have reported, the Clintons are well known for their “Hit Lists.”
POLITICO‘s Jonathan Allen and Amie Parnes reported the following in January of 2014 on Hillary’s failed 2008 Presidential bid:
…
On one early draft of the hit list, each Democratic member of Congress was assigned a numerical grade from 1 to 7, with the most helpful to Hillary earning 1s and the most treacherous drawing 7s. The set of 7s included Sens. John Kerry (D-Mass.), Jay Rockefeller (D-W.Va.), Bob Casey (D-Pa.) and Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.), as well as Reps. Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.), Baron Hill (D-Ind.) and Rob Andrews (D-N.J.).
Hillary may be most proud of the enemies she cited on stage, but they’re poll-tested campaign stump lines.
The real enemies are the ones she didn’t name: the ones who the Clintons feel betrayed her.
