Leinberger after Lunch…

Brookings Institution’s inestimable urban planning guy Christopher Leinberger will be chatting through the Greater Greater Washington Web site at 1 p.m. today.

Leinberger is one of the shrewdest of the “New Urbanism” school, whose scholars argue that the days of the sprawling, cul-de-sac suburbs are gone and the future is in the walkable high-rises (think White Flint).

He’s also been way ahead of the curve on the emergence of slums in the suburbs. This sounds wonky, but Leinberger is a plain speaker and has some rather scathing things to say about our local leadership.

If you’re into urban planning, check him out.
