Democratic congresswoman mocks Bill Maher for not being aborted

HBO host Bill Maher seemed incensed Saturday night when Democratic California Rep. Katie Porter made light of the fact that he could easily have been aborted.

During a panel discussion about Joe Biden switching his position on the Hyde Amendment, Maher asserted his pro-abortion views, but also acknowledged the complexity of the issue, especially since doctors warned his mother against having him.

“They told my mother after my sister — very difficult birth — she shouldn’t have another one. So knowing I could’ve been on the cutting room floor … ” Maher said.

The audience was groaning at Maher’s turn of phrase when Porter commented, “Your mom made her choice, and we’re all here with the consequences of that choice.”

The comment drew laughter from the audience and other panel members, to which Maher responded by cursing them out and jokingly telling them to leave.

“God bless Ms. Maher,” Porter then said, seemingly trying to qualify her statement and defuse the situation. “God bless her for having you. I’m sure it wasn’t easy.”

“Again, I’m not arguing what you’re pretending I’m arguing, all of you on this panel,” an irritated Maher said before cursing at them again.

The heated exchange comes amid furor in the Democratic Party, as it further embraces a pro-abortion stance.

Former Texas Rep. Beto O’Rourke asserted Sunday that there is likely no chance that a candidate could secure the Democratic nomination if he or she “would not believe in a woman’s right to choose and the ability to stand, and the mandate for us to stand with women in each and every instance.”
