An Irish court has fined mixed martial artist Conor McGregor $1,120 for punching a man at a pub in April.
McGregor, 31, pleaded guilty to an assault charge in court and told the judge Friday that his outburst was “very wrong,” according to the Associated Press.
“I assure you nothing of this nature will happen again,” McGregor said.
McGregor was caught on video by a security camera hitting an older man in a Dublin pub for apparently refusing McGregor’s multiple offers to buy him a shot of whiskey.
McGregor announced his retirement from MMA in March, five months after losing a bout to Khabib Nurmagomedov. Nurmagomedov beat McGregor by submission in a title fight in Las Vegas.
McGregor stepped away from the sport with an official record of 21 wins and four losses. In October, he began moving to reverse his decision and began talking with UFC President Dana White about coming back with a fight against 38-year-old Frankie Edgar.
Ireland-born McGregor has spoken about possibly fighting Edgar, who is from New Jersey, in December.
