Police say Guillermo Medina, 15, who was stabbed to death outside of a local high school Wednesday, was the second Prince George’s County high school student to have fallen prey to Walter Izaguirre-Henrique, 18, a member of the notorious MS-13 gang.
According to court documents, police believe Izaguirre-Henrique, who was arrested Wednesday and is being held without bail, was driving a gold Honda when he and his 18-year-old brother, Rony Antonio Izaguirre-Henrique, also an MS-13 member, jumped out, flashed a gang sign at Medina and stabbed him just after he left Parkdale School High School in broad daylight and with witnesses nearby.
County police say they are still searching for the other brother and have a warrant charging him with first-degree murder, like his sibling, which could mean the death penalty for both. Prince George’s County State’s Attorney Glenn Ivey said Friday that other charges may be pursued as well. Rony Izaguirre-Henrique is considered to be dangerous and a flight risk, police said.
But murder isn’t the only charge against Walter Izaquirre-Henrique. He also is facing a series of assault and reckless-endangerment charges for the beating and stabbing of a Northwestern High School night student on March 14 near a 7-Eleven on the 9900 block of Rhode Island Avenue in Hyatsville. A warrant for those charges was issued Tuesday.
According to court documents, Walter Izaquirre-Henrique, who at some point also attended Northwestern High School night classes, and a group of men approached the victim around 10:30 p.m. while he was walking home.
The victim heard them giving orders to spread out and he started running away, but the gang members chased him down, kicked and punched him, and then Izaguirre-Henrique allegedly stabbed him three times in his back and legs. The victim survived his wounds.
Ivey said Friday that it wasn’t yet clear if the two teens attacked by the gang were targeted or MS-13 members.
“The stabbing at [Parkdale] was certainly very frightening for students and the community,” Ivey said. “I commend the Police Department for moving so quickly.”
