Donald Trump predicted Bernie Sanders’ supporters will back the GOP front-runner after the democratic socialist leaves the race.
“I think a lot of the young people that are with Bernie Sanders are going to come over to my side because they want jobs and they see what’s happening,” Trump told Fox News host Sean Hannity on Monday.
The New York businessman cited trade as the only area of agreement between him and the Vermont senator. Trump claimed his trade policy would win over progressives because, like Sanders’ promises, he has vowed to take back jobs that were sent overseas.
“The difference — I’ll make great deals out of it, he doesn’t know what to do. I mean, he’s a socialist, he doesn’t know what to do. I’ll make great deals out of it,” Trump added.
Trump has called for Sanders to run as an independent on the November ticket so that he divides liberal voters. He also said Clinton supporters would leave her campaign to vote for Trump in a hypothetical general election match-up.
