John Boehner: I’m not the Establishment

John Boehner, R-Ohio., said Thursday it pains him when he’s described as “spineless” or a “squish” by members of his own party who are unhappy with his work as speaker of the house.

“I’ll tell you what pains me the most is when they describe me as the Establishment,” Boehner told reporters during his weekly press conference Thursday.

The Ohio Republican has taken heat this week after 25 members of the Republican Party voted against him for another term as Speaker. Boehner responded by having a “family conversation” with his members in the hopes of getting everyone on the same page as Republicans look to move their agenda forward after November’s midterm elections gave the party control of both chambers of Congress.
