More sex-abuse charges filedagainst band teacher

Two more victims have come forward saying that Ted Thomas Johnson, a Manassas band teacher, has sexually abused them, the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office reported Friday.

Johnson, 48, was charged Monday with attempting to sexually assault a 13-year-old girl in his Stafford County home.

The new charges against him include two counts of aggravated sexual battery and two counts of custodial indecent liberties with a child, according to a news release from the Sheriff’s Office.

Johnson, the band director and a fine arts teacher at Osbourn High School and the band teacher at Mayfield Intermediate, is being held without bond at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.

Maintenance worker assaulted

A 41-year-old Springfield-area maintenance worker was beaten and sexually assaulted in an apartment complex laundry room on the 6100 block of Backlick Road, Fairfax County police said. He was found Thursday morning and taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police believe the suspect, a 25- to 30-year-old Hispanic male, left a trail of blood as he attempted to steal nearby cars. A stolen 1994 Honda Accord was later found along the East Way Highway in Prince George’s County with blood inside. Anyone with information should call 703-691-2131. – Freeman Klopott

Security guard kills man in Oxon Hill

A security guard at Colonial Village Apartments on the 1000 block of Marcy Avenue in Oxon Hill shot and killed a man during a confrontation Friday morning, Prince George’s County police said. An argument between two men escalated into a shootout and when one of the men entered the apartment grounds, he was confronted by a security guard. The guard told police he saw the man begin to draw a gun when he fired. – Freeman Klopott

Banana truck turnover closes ramp

An overturned tractor-trailer filled with bananas closed the Interstate 95 ramp to eastbound Maryland Route 32 in Howard County on Friday, Maryland highway officials said. It was expected the ramp would remain closed through the evening rush hour while a private company off-loaded the bananas onto additional trucks. –
