House GOP will introduce pre-existing conditions bill next week

House Energy and Commerce Chair Greg Walden on Thursday said he will introduce a bill next week that would ensure people with pre-existing medical conditions continue to have coverage as Obamacare is repealed and replaced.

“We want to make sure that people with pre-existing conditions continue to get covered,” Walden told CNN host Jake Tapper on Wednesday evening.

“In fact, I’ll introduce a bill next week that will provide and reaffirm that commitment from Republicans.”

The Republican from Oregon said governors from across the country have told him they want increased flexibility. Walden met with state officials at the bicameral Republican retreat in Philadelphia that runs Thursday to Friday.

“Every governor in there asked for that,” said Walden.

The subcommittees on oversight and health will discuss potential reforms in hearings next Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
