Omarosa contradicts her book, claims she heard Trump say ’N-word’

Fired White House aide Omarosa Manigault Newman contradicted her forthcoming book, “Unhinged,” in an interview Friday, claiming she had actually heard President Trump use the “N-word” on a tape.

In the book, according to reporters who have read it, Manigault Newman writes that she never heard Trump say the “N-word” during the filming of his reality TV show “The Apprentice,” but heard from unnamed sources that he had used the racial slur.

In an interview with NPR, Manigault Newman contradicts what she wrote in her book.

“Hearing it changed everything for me,” she told the news outlet.

When asked about the difference, the former White House staffer questioned whether the reporter had read her book and cited a section at the end of it. In the passage, however, Manigault Newman does not describe hearing the tape of Trump herself.

“On this phone conversation, I was told exactly what Donald Trump said — yes, the N-word and others in a classic Trump-goes-nuclear rant — and when he’d said them,” the book reads, according to NPR.

“During production he was miked, and there is definitely an audio track,” it continues. “For over a year I’d been so afraid of hearing the specifics from someone who’d been in the room. Hearing the truth freed me from that fear. And only now that it’s gone, do I realize just how heavy it’s been.”

Manigault Newman argued that the passage referred to her allegedly hearing the tape, instead of the tape being described to her.

“I heard the tape,” she insisted.

Once a fierce defender of Trump, Manigault Newman was fired from her White House position in December 2017. She now says her former boss is a racist and misogynist.
