President Trump defended ousted White House national security adviser Mike Flynn on Wednesday, and claimed the media has treated him “very unfairly” amid the furor over his contact with Russian officials.
“Michael Flynn is a wonderful man. I think he’s been treated very unfairly by the media,” the president told reporters during a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Trump, who asked for Flynn’s resignation, also blasted what he called the “fake media” for focusing Flynn’s actions instead of leaks from intelligence officials.
Flynn was asked to leave his senior position on Monday after the president’s trust in him had “eroded,” White House press secretary Sean Spicer said Tuesday.
