Burger King giving away free kids meals as part of coronavirus response effort

Burger King will begin giving away free kids meals in U.S. stores in response to the nationwide outbreak of the coronavirus, according to a new report.

Jose Cil, chief executive officer of Burger King’s parent company, told Bloomberg News restaurants would soon begin offering two free kids meals per adult meal.

The offer is only valid for orders placed through the fast-food giant’s mobile app.

“We work closely with each of our franchisees,” Cil said. “We’re going to get through this. We have a strong franchise system and a very strong franchise model.”

In a statement posted last week, Christopher Finazzo, president of Burger King Americas, outlined the company’s plans to help people affected by the virus.

“We are talking to other restaurant chains around the world to understand what they are doing. We are the most competitive burger brand on the planet. But, there are times to turn down the grill and make sure as a restaurant industry that we are learning from each other,” Finazzo said. “We look forward to continuing to serve you at our restaurants and to doing our part to keep you and our communities safe.”
