Donald Trump has added 11 more electoral votes to his tab after securing Arizona two days after Election Day. The president-elect now stands at 290 electoral votes, while former Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton is perched at 228.
After counting the final ballots on Thursday, election workers concluded Trump was the winner.
Although Republican presidential candidates have won in Arizona for the past two decades, Clinton shrunk the gap in comparison to President Obama’s 2012 loss to GOP nominee Mitt Romney. Obama lost by 9 points to Romney, while Clinton lost to Trump by 4 points, indicating the state’s growing Hispanic population may have been swayed by her message on immigration.
Two other state races are too close to call. Michigan and New Hampshire have yet to be concluded.
