CNN in 2008 covered then-Republican Sen. Ted Stevens and his corruption trial six times the amount of coverage it has so far dedicated to the trial of Sen. Robert Menendez, D-N.J., according to a study.
The right-leaning Media Research Center found in a report published Wednesday CNN ran 36 stories during the first three weeks of Stevens’ trial in 2008. By contrast, the network has only run seven about Menendez during about the same time period.
A spokesperson for CNN did not return a request for comment from the Washington Examiner.
Stevens was convicted of corruption charges related to improperly disclosing gifts received.
Menendez stands accused of accepting bribes for political favors.
