Facebook implemented new features this week for its platform to keep up with various competitors.
The platform announced on Monday the launching of live audio rooms and podcasts “as part of our plans to bring social audio experiences to Facebook,” Fidji Simo, head of the Facebook app, said in a blog post.

Facebook will begin offering a variety of podcasts from Joe Budden, “Jess Hilarious” of Carefully Reckless, Keltie Knight, Becca Tobin, Jac Vanek, and Nicaila Matthews Okome.
The platform will be rolling out additional features later this summer that will allow users to share short clips of podcasts.
Public figures and select Facebook groups will now be able to start live audio rooms similar to the app Clubhouse, though regular users cannot. Those who start live audio rooms can invite friends and followers in the conversation to become a speaker, and there can be up to 50 speakers, though there’s no limit on the number of listeners who are able to tune in.
Users participating in an audio room will have the ability to select a nonprofit group or fundraiser to support, and listeners can donate, but they cannot send money to the public figures.

Some of the public figures who will be participating in audio rooms include Grammy-nominated electronic music artist TOKiMONSTA, Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson, organizer and scholar-activist Rosa Clemente, internet personality Omareloff, and social entrepreneur Amanda Nguyen.
