NOAA to stay in Silver Spring for 15 more years

The National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration has made a commitment to stay in its Silver Spring offices for another 15 years, keeping more than 4,000 jobs in Montgomery County.

The U.S. General Services Administration signed a 15-year lease renewal on NOAA’s behalf for the Foulger-Pratt-owned 1305, 1315 and 1325 East-West Highway, County Executive Ike Leggett’s office announced. Together the three buildings comprise more than one million square feet of office space.

Foulger-Pratt will invest $40 million into the buildings over the next two years, Managing Principal Bryant Foulger said. The renovations follow a $12 million grant Leggett and the Montgomery County Council will give the company over a 15-year period as incentive.

NOAA has been the lead tenant in the Foulger-Pratt buildings on East-West Highway since they were built in 1990.
