Texas GOP Sen. Ted Cruz said he is confident that the Rio Grande Valley, a Democratic stronghold in South Texas, will turn red in November with the victories of the state’s first Latina Republican representatives.

Cruz predicted during an immigration press conference Wednesday that the illegal immigration crisis on the southern border will spur the residents of Texas’s border counties to vote for Republican policies and GOP candidates.
