GOP likely to remove Nevada from early nominating states

The Republican National Committee may strip Nevada of its status as an early presidential nomination state.

Due to the low turnout in the Nevada caucuses, the Silver State could end up losing its spot as the first Western state to participate in nominating a candidate, Politico reported Sunday.

According to the report, Colorado or Arizona could end up receiving the coveted role.

The Nevada caucuses were also complicated by procedural errors, confusion by many participants and questions about the integrity of the caucuses. Volunteers were seen wearing shirts, hats and buttons supporting certain candidates, which was supposed to be banned.

According to the report, the party’s rules committee could end up deciding Nevada’s role in the process before the Republican National Convention in Cleveland in July.
