Imre continues rapid growth

When Dave Imre, president and chief executive officer of Imre Communications, started his business 14 years ago as a sole practitioner specializing in public relations, he never imagined that the agency today would employ 40 professionals, boast two offices and report $6.5 million in 2005 billings.

“I?ve already exceeded my expectations, truly,” Imre said. “I had no plans to have an agency of 40 people. I?m shocked and thrilled.”

Imre credits the agency?s growth to hiring top professionals in the industry and specializing in communications for top brands in three key industry sectors: home and building, insurance and associations. He said specialization allowed the agency to grow during the advertising downturn that held back many of his competitors.

“We had a good set of clients whose industries were not affected, especially by the tech downturn,” he said. “We never got caught up in our own hype or in the industry hype.”

The agency?s top clients include Home Depot, John Deere, MetLife, Travelers and Hampton Bay.

Imre said that since he started the company, it has expanded from just offering public relations to what he calls “360 communications” ? everything from advertising and collateral materials to brand management.

Though he originally had no plans to grow the agency to its present size, Imre?s goal now is to continue the agency?s expansion.

“We are going to continue to do great work for our current customers and we will expand,” he said.
