United Way gives $376K to 38 D.C. organizations

The United Way of the National Capital Area awarded about $376,000 to 38 D.C. nonprofits on Friday, part of the charity’s $1.75 million haul.

Each of the organizations that received United Way grants focus on one of the charity’s core areas: education, health and financial stability.

“The contributions from the D.C. community demonstrate a commitment to joining together to ensure that programs… can continue their essential work,” said Bill Hanbury, the president of the local United Way affiliate.

Throughout the region, the United Way awarded grants to 160 organizations.
