Abe admits: Trump is a much better golfer

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe admitted Friday he’s not as good a golfer as President Trump, just before the two men were set to fly to Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort and play this weekend.

“We will play golf together,” Abe said at a White House press conference with Trump. “My score in golf is not up to the level of Donald at all, but my policy is, ‘never up, never in,’ always aiming for the cup.”

Trump can play, and reportedly can shoot in the 70s. While Abe is no slouch, his scores are in the 90-100 range over 18 holes.

Reuters reported that Abe’s game can get “tense” if he’s playing poorly with his wife, but Abe said he was hoping for a “relaxed atmosphere” in Florida.

“In a relaxed atmosphere, I hope to take time to discuss all the future of the world, future of the region and future of Japan and the United States,” he said.
