Britney Spears’ former manager is worried that her comeback is too much, too soon. After her spectacular breakdown last year, Johnny Wright tells OK!, the “Womanizer” singer may have been pushed back into the spotlight before she was ready.
“A comeback is not what I wish for Britney,” he declares. “What I wish for her is to settle down and find real happiness.”
“All her essential relationships have been torn apart,” Johnny points out. “She’s been divorced twice, she doesn’t have custody of her kids, she’s being pushed back into being a money machine.
“I want her to be happy in her heart, then go back to the business because she wants to,” he explains, “not because people are convincing her she has to, or that it would be good therapy for her.”
Unlike her pop-star mentor, Madonna, Johnny adds, Britney doesn’t have a true passion driving her to get onstage: “Madonna really wants to do it. Seeing Britney do it by the numbers isn’t a good sign. It means she might not want it as much as those around her do.”
Wonder if Britney herself even knows what she wants right now?
Fergie: Frisky?
Either Fergie and Josh Duhamel really value their privacy … or they really want to sell exclusive wedding photos to the tabloids. An inside source tells the New York Daily News that while last weekend’s ceremony was “absolutely amazing,” attendees were put off by the “airport-style security presence” during the nuptials.
“We couldn’t bring anything with us,” the source gripes. “No cell phones, no cameras, nothing. We all met in a parking lot, where we were searched and went through metal detectors.”
Actually, the process sounds a bit like being admitted to prison. After being frisked, well-wishers “boarded buses and were taken to a private ranch-style estate in Malibu.”
Guests being physically groped before a wedding? How tacky! That sort of thing usually doesn’t happen until after a couple hours at the open bar.
Drew, Cam: Frenemies?
Drew Barrymore and Cameron Diaz have been besties since filming “Charlie’s Angels” a decade ago. But now it appears they’re not even on speaking terms, according to OK!
The tabloid reports that both blondes were present at a glitzy Golden Globe Awards after-party hosted by the CAA agency — yet they seemed to be avoiding each other.
“Both Cameron and Drew were at the party but neither one spoke to each other!” another attendee of the soiree dishes. “They were on opposite sides of the room the entire night.”
The tab speculates that the girls might have grown apart because Cam’s in glued-at-the-hip mode with model beau Paul Sculfor — meaning she’s not available for girls’ nights out with the currently single Drew.
However, we can’t help but wonder if something else is at work. After all, Drew recently worked on the forthcoming “He’s Just Not That Into You,” which stars — oh yeah — Paul’s ex, Jennifer Aniston. Hmmm.
Katy’s broken heart
Her ex announced their split by dissing her on his blog, but Katy Perry still seems to be taking the breakup pretty hard. Monday night, during an acoustic performance in L.A. (“I Kissed a Girl” unplugged? Seriously?), the singer opened up about her heartbreak over Gym Class Heroes frontman Travis McCoy.
“It hurts right now,” Katy confessed to the crowd, People reports.
“When you break up with someone you move on,” she explained. “You don’t really want to move on … but you have to because they don’t give you any choice.” Ouch.
However, Katy concluded on an upbeat note, “But I’m over it!” Real convincing.
