UPDATE 12:30 p.m. Friday: The District Department of Transportation has modified the road closures occurring in the city on Sunday because of the Washington D.C. Triathlon.

Drivers should be prepared this weekend for road closures and limited parking around the National Mall to make way for the first Washington, D.C., Triathlon.
The race begins early Sunday morning, but some of the closures will begin as early as noon Saturday along Ohio Drive, between Independence Avenue and West Basin Drive, according to the District Department of Transportation. Pennsylvania Avenue will be closed between Third and Sixth streets starting at 8 p.m. Saturday.
The race will close roads in the following areas and parking will be prohibited along the route (PDF):
- Ohio Drive between Independence and West Basin Drive, closed 3:30 am-10:15 am.
- 17th Street between Independence and Pennsylvania Avenue, closed 4:30 am-9:30 am
- Pennsylvania Avenue between 17th and 18th Streets, NW, closed 4:30 am-9:30 am
- E Street Expressway between 17th and Potomac Freeway, closed 4:30 am-9:30 am
- Potomac Freeway north and southbound lanes, closed 4:30 am-9:45 am
- Whitehurst Freeway, closed 4:30 am-10:00 am
- Rock Creek Parkway from Independence Avenue to Calvert Street, closed from 5 am-10 am
- 15th Street between Maine Avenue and Constitution Avenue, closed from 4:30 am-10 am
