Musician and NRA board member Ted Nugent defended embattled Fox News host Laura Ingraham Monday, saying comments she made about Parkland shooting survivor David Hogg’s college rejections were “in line.”
“I think Laura Ingraham is a great person,” Nugent told New York’s WABC Radio during a live interview for the “Curtis and Cosby” show.
“This Hogg guy had gone off the rails, and spewing the hate, and missing the whole point on how to make schools safe. So I think Laura was in line,” the conservative firebrand continued.
More than a dozen companies that advertise with “The Ingraham Angle” pulled their support or distanced themselves from the Fox News personality last week after she mocked Hogg for not being accepted by a handful of Californian colleges.
The Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School senior has been one of the most vocal and visible of the students advocating for gun control in the wake of the mass shooting that claimed 17 people’s lives in February.
Hogg on Thursday refused to accept an apology issued by Ingraham for her remarks.
Ingraham announced Friday she was taking a break from her show this week for Easter.
Nugent on Monday added that he didn’t care whether he also experienced a backlash for backing Ingraham.
“I don’t have a worry in my brain,” he said, describing Hogg as “brainwashed” and “consumed with hate.” “I’ll let the dominoes fall where they may.”
Nugent made headlines himself on Friday after he called the Parkland shooting survivors “soulless” for playing politics with the tragedy.
