Chick-fil-A to sell signature sauces in grocery stores for first time, but only in Florida

Chick-fil-A will begin selling its sauces in grocery stores for the first time starting in April, but only in one state.

The fast-food chain announced this week it is selling the sauces in Florida grocery stores as part of a pilot program. The signature Chick-fil-A sauce and the Polynesian sauce will be the first flavors to hit the shelves, according to Fox 13 Tampa Bay.

The 16-fluid ounce bottles will be sold at Florida Publix, Target, Walmart, and Winn-Dixie locations at a cost of $3.49. One hundred percent of the proceeds will go to the Chick-fil-A Remarkable Futures Scholarship initiative that benefits employees.

“Chick-fil-A Sauce and Polynesian Sauce are our two most popular sauces, so we are extremely excited to offer them at select retail stores outside of the restaurant,” Michael Patrick, the head of the pilot program, said about the move. “And because our team members are truly our ‘secret sauce’ to creating a positive experience in our restaurants, each time a customer purchases a bottled sauce at a participating retailer, the Chick-fil-A profits will support team members through our scholarship program.”

Patrick said the decision to forgo collecting profits from the sauce was based on the desire to develop talent.

“We think this sends a strong message that we’re a brand of choice for attracting great talent,” he said. “Talent is the most important part of our business.”

Chick-fil-A fans can now “dip, drizzle, and marinate to their delight, right at home,” the company said in a press release.

The restaurant chain experienced massive growth in 2018, catapulting it to a position of the third-largest chain in the United States behind only McDonald’s and Starbucks. Data shows that Chick-fil-A generates more revenue per store than any other restaurant chain in America.
