Turkish official: ‘We got exactly what we wanted’ with cease-fire deal

A senior Turkish official said they got “exactly what they wanted” after meeting with Vice President Mike Pence to work out a deal.

The official said Thursday that the “military operation paid off” and they would be getting the “terrorists” to get out of the “safe zone,” according to CNN.

Pence announced a cease-fire deal had been struck between Turkey and the Kurds in Syria. Turkey will pause its military operation in Syria in exchange for Kurdish forces to leave a “safe zone” 20-miles wide from the Turkish border.

The cease-fire is for 120 hours and will be “halted entirely on completion of the withdrawal” according to Pence.

The vice president said Turkey also agreed to help defeat ISIS in northern Syria.
