The Mariah Carey pregnancy rumor mill has officially gone into overdrive. The newlywed songbird had already sparked suspicions by refusing a glass of Champagne on Ellen DeGeneres’ talk show (and we all know Mimi without a glass of Champagne is like a day without sunshine). And now the diva has been caught red-handed with the smoking, er, sonogram.
The newly minted Mrs. Nick Cannon was spotted in Los Angeles by Page Six spies as she exited an OB/GYN office “clutching what looked like a sonogram and being greeted by her entourage with cheers. She was ebullient.”
Asked about pregnancy talk, a rep dissembles to the gossip column, “As far as I’m told, it’s not true.”
And we all know what “as far as I’m told” means in publicist-speak. So we’ll just go ahead and say: Congrats, Mariah and Nick!
Neighborly Love?
Alex Rodriguez and Madonna insist they’re not a couple, and deny the buzz that they’re shopping for NYC pads close to each other. But a source tells the New York Daily News that the pair are indeed “intimate,” and another says they’re indeed eager to be neighbors.
“Before his divorce, Alex was searching for houses on the upper East Side and Madonna offered to help him,” an inside source reportedly confides in the paper. “She wanted Alex to have a big house that would be suitable for kids, and she didn’t want a building with a nosy doorman who would talk. Madonna wanted a place where they could go and be together without prying eyes.”
“They don’t want to be in the same apartment, but they do want to be near one another,” a pal of A-Rod seconds. “Both sides have sent their reps to look at places.”
So, are these two more than Kabbalah study buddies or what?
“Alex and Madonna are very, very cozy,” the inside source concedes. “Yes, they are intimate, and they are intoxicated with one another. Alex can’t get over that he’s with Madonna.”
However, “this isn’t a deep and serious love affair,” the source cautions. “It will last as long as Madonna wants it to.”
Gee, we didn’t need an “insider” to tell us that.
