Man charged in 3 armed robberies at gas stations

Prince William County police say a Dumfries man has been charged in connection with three armed robberies at area gas stations.

Gerald W. Carter Sr., 51, of the 3500 block of Briarwood Drive, has been charged with three counts of robbery and two counts of using a firearm while committing a felony. Police said evidence linking Carter to the robberies was collected from his home on Monday. He is charged in the following incidents:

  • An Oct. 14 robbery at knifepoint the Shell gas station at 17250 Dumfries Road at about 9:35 p.m.
  • A Nov. 4 robbery at gunpoint the same gas station at about 10:15 p.m.
  • A Nov. 18 robbery at gunpoint at the Pumps gas station at 17315 Jefferson Davis Hwy at about 8:50 p.m.

Carter obtained cash in each of the incidents, police said. He is being held without bond.
