DETROIT (AP) — The College for Creative Studies is working with a business that makes watches and other goods in Detroit on plans for a degree program in fashion accessories design.
Details of the bachelor of fine arts program starting in the fall of 2015 at the Detroit school are being announced Thursday. The four-year program will aim to educate students in the creation, design and manufacturing of products such as handbags, leather goods and footwear.
The College for Creative Studies is working on developing the curriculum with Shinola, which makes watches, bicycles and leather goods.
The program also will cover topics such as trends forecasting and market research, fabrication techniques, supply chain management, branding, marketing and merchandising. Shinola plans to offer scholarships and opportunities for firsthand industry experience.
