Social media erupted Tuesday night over the awkward appearance of Democratic leaders in their response to President Trump’s Oval Office address.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., were side-by-side in a scripted response to Trump’s appeal on why the situation at the border is a crisis and responding to demands for a border wall.
Some compared the duo to the twins from the horror movie “The Shining.”

“Chuck Schumer and Nanci Pelosi lookin like the creepy twins from The Shining,” another account tweeted.
Many said that Schumer, 68, and Pelosi, 78, came off as two disappointed parents.

Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush, Jeb Bush’s son, wrote in a tweet: “We are not mad, we are just disappointed.”
One user placed the image of Pelosi and Schumer next to the painting American Gothic, which portrays an old farmer couple standing beside each other with severe, bleak expressions.

Former governor of Arkansas Mike Huckabee said that the two seemed lifeless, and joked that they needed to be resuscitated.

Although one Twitter user said that he had a favorable opinion of Pelosi and Schumer, he thinks that they need to work on their appearance.

One anonymous humor Twitter account said that Pelosi and Schumer resembled an older couple upset with their homeowners association.
