At any given moment, the State Department’s high-ranking experts debate how to improve America’s image in the world. However, a new bill puts some of the future of U.S. foreign policy in the hands of a most unlikely group: American college students.
The bill is called the Paul Simon Study Abroad Foundation Act and was passed by the House of Representatives on June 5. If passed by the Senate, the bill would multiply the number of American students studying abroad by a factor of five, resulting in a total of 1 million by 2017.
