It is not too early to start signing up for next year’s major triathlons.
Both the Reston and Nation’s triathlons will open registration this week. The Olympic-distance triathlons will be held Sunday, Sept. 12.
Registration for the Reston Triathlon will open at 7:30 p.m. Monday. The race is a 1-mile swim in Lake Audubon, a 22.3-mile bike and a 10K run on Reston’s paths.
The Nation’s Triathlon will open registration Tuesday at 9 a.m. It entails a 1-mile swim in the Potomac River, a 25-mile bike by major monuments and over the Memorial Bridge, and a 10K run course around Hains Point.
Major local triathlons already have filled up: the Columbia Triathlon in May, Eagleman Ironman 70.3 Triathlon and Iron Girl Columbia Triathlon in August, for example.
