Oliver Stone has made some terrible movies, and it seems like he’s making one more — a biography of George Bush that may be released before the November election. While I only came across the story today, it appears that Stone announced the project in January. And don’t worry — Stone says it won’t be a ‘polemic:’
Here, I’m the referee, and I want a fair, true portrait of the man,” Stone told Variety. How did Bush go from an alcoholic bum to the most powerful figure in the world? It’s like Frank Capra territory on one hand, but I’ll also cover the demons in his private life, his bouts with his dad and his conversion to Christianity, which explains a lot of where he is coming from…
So fans of the president shouldn’t worry — this won’t be any less accurate than earlier Stone films such as JFK, Nixon, and World Trade Center. This is just the true story of a chemically-dependent young man with father issues and delusions of godhood. You know — the kind of movie another man might make about Barack Obama.
