Fact Check: Does This Image Show a “Mexican Official being Dragged by the Caravan”?

An image began circulating on Facebook Tuesday claiming to depict members of the famed “caravan” dragging a “Mexican official” through the street. “Anyone for open borders??” the headline ends.

The image comes from 2014, when 43 students in Mexico went missing. As the Associated Press reported at the time:

Last week, officials said members of a drug gang in Guerrero — the state where Acapulco is located — had confessed to killing the students and burning their bodies, leaving only charred fragments. But supporters of the missing students, refusing to believe they are dead, continued to protest. On Monday, they battled Acapulco police, then blocked roads leading to the airport, forcing tourists to walk a half mile to the terminal.

The photo has nothing to do with the current group heading to the southern border of the U.S.
