Hillary Clinton invoked Ronald Reagan on Thursday to bash Donald Trump, asking what he would say if he could see the current standard-bearer of the Republican Party.
“I was just thinking about all of the presidents that would just be looking at one another in total astonishment. What would Ronald Reagan say?” Clinton told reporters at her first formal press conference since December. “About a Republican nominee who attacks America’s generals and heaps praise on Russia’s president? I think we know the answer.”
Clinton spoke the morning after she and Trump participated in a national security forum on NBC in which Trump was again confronted with his positive words about Vladimir Putin. Trump said he’ll “take the compliment” when Putin calls him “brilliant,” though added, “it’s not going to get him anywhere.”
