Billionaire environmentalist Tom Steyer can expect a level of scrutiny worthy of a presidential campaign from a conservative group during the rest of this election cycle.
America Rising Squared, the policy arm of America Rising, announced Friday it would be deploying video trackers to follow Steyer and other top environmentalists around the country, a six-figure ad campaign focused on social media and field research on Steyer and other environmentalists.
The goal is to hold Steyer and other environmentalists “accountable for their epic hypocrisy,” said Brian Rogers, executive director of America Rising Squared.
“Tom Steyer made a fortune investing in oil and coal, and is now dumping an unprecedented amount of money into political causes which promise to increase the value of his latest investments in ‘green energy,'” Rogers said. “America Rising Squared will hold Steyer and the environmentalist Left accountable for their epic hypocrisy and extreme positions which threaten America’s future prosperity.”
Steyer donated about $74 million to Democrats during the 2014 election cycle to help defeat Republicans. America Rising Squared says he has indicated he will spend more during the 2016 election cycle, and conservatives need to fight back.
The group will post its work on a website, www.corenews.org, that will serve as a hub for America Rising Squared’s research.
