Poll: Clinton, Ayotte lead in New Hampshire

Hillary Clinton is leading Donald Trump in New Hampshire despite losing the state’s Democratic primary by 20 points, according to a new poll.

The American Research Group polling of New Hampshire voters shows Clinton leading Trump 47-42 among registered voters. Clinton has the support of 57 percent of women, whereas Trump wins over 55 percent of men. Clinton is also more popular among younger voters (51-37), whereas Trump just barely leads among voters over 45 (46-44).

In the race for Senate, sitting Republican Sen. Kelly Ayotte leads Democratic Gov. Maggie Hassan 51-42. Of the 51 percent voting Ayotte, 82 percent say they’ll vote for Trump in November. Of the 42 percent voting for Hassan, 87 percent say that they’ll vote for Clinton and less than 0.5 percent say they’ll vote for Trump.

Hassan has lost ground in recent weeks due to criticism for time spent away from the state fundraising for her Senate bid. On both Sunday and Monday she was in D.C. holding high profile fundraisers, despite being hammered by her opponent and local press for her absence.

The overall job rating for President Obama in New Hampshire is 31 percent approve, 62 percent disapprove. Forty-four percent of registered voters rate current business conditions as bad, the highest since March 2011.
